They do not take reservations. This is also a seafood market. Really top quality seafood.
Possibly July 23. If not then July 30.
We have fresh mussels this week. February 28 and 29.
Limited seating. There's usually a line out the door. Tables do turn fairly fast. Worth the wait!
If you watch out for the waitress very unhappy with there criticism
I havent seen a tank to hold them
They are open only on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Very friendly, very efficient, food was very good.
Great tasting fresh seafood. Not much seating so go early.
My husband and I visited this place because of all the reviews. We waked in around 6pm they close at 7pm so we thought that would be plenty of time; the staff seemed very irritated when we walked in. We felt so uncomfortable; it was depressing, very quiet and no one was talking, no music playing. We got our food it was ok, nothing that would make us return. Very disappointing!
Great food, seating process is apparently on the honor system, first come first seated. Once we got seated, food was delicious. Light breading on the captain's platter allowed the taste of the fish to shine, which can be rare for fried seafood. Service was great and food was top notch. If you can bear the awkward seating process, you won't be disappointed.
Only open Thursday thru Saturday. Only true seafood joint in Ellijay. Only 9 tables, very limited seating. Get there early or be ready for a wait. Worth the wait however. A little pricy, but, the portions are a nice size. The seafood is as good as you would get at the beach.
To call this location unassuming is quite the understatement. Seafood in the mountains and beside the Marathon gas station. Yet, it is as good as I have eaten anywhere on the Atlantic Coast. A must try in Ellijay.
A great place to eat, drove from cumming to get some good sea food
Very, very good fish restaurant. The fish, shrimp, and vegetables were so fresh with great flavor. The Jolly Roger has a small dining room with only 8 tables. Even so, we only waited about 15 minutes to be seated, then the service was quick. The cost of our meals were about $25 per person. Their market had a large selection of fresh seafood for those who want to cook it at home.
Great fresh seafood. Worth the price.
Your not going to find better food or service period!!! Great people, great food and we'll worth the wait. Honestly the best seafood cheif you will find... *And coming to Blue Ridge soon 😉.... CANT WAIT
Excellent, fresh seafood. Not fussy. Small. Perfect service. This is a spot worth traveling to. It's that good!
Food was good, but slightly over done for price. While sea food comes fresh, prices are what you'd expect for more formal setting, not someplace connected to a convenience slash gas station.Would not recommend for those looking for value, or those looking for five star dinning. Few seats and few parking spots.
Fanastic!! So glad that we stopped by the little hidden gem! Delicious huge coconut shrimp and fresh seafood for purchase! Will definitely be back!
Fresh seafood. Quick and good. Small place so time your visit to avoid a wait. Not fancy ... just good seafood. Coconut shrimp and cod are mybtwo favorites. My spouse akways goes for the Captain's Platter unless they have a special that hits his fancy.
Great food, great service. Wish I was in area all the time. Might even make a trip just to eat there.
My son took me here for dinner it was wonderful. It's a very small place with Awesome seafood. They also sell a great selection of fresh fish, losbter, crab and gator for take out and cooking at home. the staff are great and fast. Highly recommend
As good, if not better, as what you would get at the coast. Cool motif and atmosphere with 70s rock playing in background. Service was great! Not a long lunch wait, but we where the 2 guest in but we where a party of six and the food came hot and fresh. We all enjoyed our meals and had a variety of food. Good helpings of food served and they had my favorite fish hot sauce, Louisiana.
Oh my what a Gem in the Mountain Foothills..Seafood as good as on the beach
Good fresh seafood cooked correctly. Cold case market seafood by the pound also available. They typically buy the fish whole and fillet them there, which is the proper way if you truly want it fresh. They unfortunately only are open 3 days Thurs Fri Sat. Lunch 11-2:30, Dinner 4-8pm. Only about 9 booth tables and they tend to stay full with a likely wait for dinner. You can order ahead for togo orders. Fried food was lightly breaded and lightly cooked with clean oil. Large catch of the day selection. No alcohol, decent 80s rock music setlist plays at enjoyable levels but not too loud. Friendly service, $$$ prices. Great choice if you can get in and afford what you want to eat as the selection of great stuff abounds. Good seafood is never cheap as we should all know by now...
This seafood restaurant has excellent seafood! You would not typically think of a seafood restaurant in the mountains, but this one rivals any seafood restaurant in any beach in the south. They fly out weekly to buy seafood right from the fishermen in the coastal seafood markets. If you want to cook the fish in your own, they have their own seafood market, as well. The only downside is that there are always people waiting to eat and they're only open 3 days a week.
Excellent food and service. Ambience isn't great, but their location is changing.
We got there at 7 they told us to hurry up that they close at 7:45 and this is not a place where you sit and drink beer we have to be out by 8:30 they were out of oysters I got the tuna it was awful I sent it back and she asked me if I wanted can tuna she was very hateful and did not take it off of our bill I will not be back on top of all this , they brought us our check before we're even through with our meal. Did not ask if we wanted anything else it was apparent they did not want us there. It was my best friend's birthday we have been looking forward to going to Jolly Rogers all week actually four months. The blonde lady should not be a customer service. . I left a 20% tip because I am a server she did not deserve it. I saw the review where the owner said he is proud of his staff well you should have been there last night.
Had a nice Valentine's Day dinner. Food and service were very good. Excellent crab soup.
Excellent food, choice and service.
Best food and service in North Georgia! Picture is the popcorn shrimp at lunch.... beats Red Lobster every day! Check the times they are open before making the trip. Enjoy!
Follow the LocalsSo a reunion of siblings and spouses turned into a sudden search for seafood in the Smokies last week. Now many of them were foodies, and all of us are post mature, so making them all happy was beyond reality until we pulled into the Jolly Roger Seafood Market and Grill in Ellijay, Ga. Looks are deceiving here, for it's attached to a Marathon Gas station. But when we saw a line of locals queue up at 3:55 just as we parked, we knew we were on the right track. They urged us to rush along because "They can only seat about 20 people in there, but you don't want to miss it." Doors opened at 4 and we sat down to one of the best collections of seafood this group of California to Maine food lovers had ever enjoyed: oysters - both fried and 1/2 shell, crab, shrimp, smoked rainbow trout, catfish, clams, rice pilaf, cole slaw, hush puppies. I need to stop. But so should you. It's wonderful.
Fantastic food and service. The atmosphere wasn't much of the food and service we overcame any shortcomings there. Fantastic meal
This was my first visit. The service was excellent the waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was great we had the yellow fin tuna it was cooked to perfection the same with the mahi mahi.
3.5 would be more accurate. We arrived at 3:50 and joined the waiting line. They never opened until around 4:10. We followed the crowd and figured we were supposed to seat ourselves. A more friendly welcome would have been appreciated. The place was clean. The shrimp was quite good given we are in the mountains (we especially enjoyed the coconut shrimp). On the captain's platter, everything but the scallops was rather forgettable, and definitely not worth the price. We had barely gotten our meal when we were given the check. It was clear that they wanted to rush people out. Not the best overall experience.
This was a pleasant surprise to find a great seafood restaurant close to Blue Ridge. The menu is quite extensive and the owners are so gracious and welcoming. I highly recommend it. EXCELLENT oysters on the half shell.
Great Great Great Great ..... Can't say enough about this wonderful gem!!! Found it while on vacation in Georgia!!! Food was exceptional, service was fantastic, our whole experience there was hands down the best!!!Food was priced great. They had a very good kid friendly menu!! The portions were well worth the amount charged..Nothing negative to say here, except pls come open a location in Nebraska!!! We would love to have you!!!Can't wait till our next visit will def come back here to enjoy another meal!!!!!
We really enjoy this place. Great service. We love the fried seafood platter. Have recommended restaurant to others and they have enjoyed their food as well. Very casual with just a few tables.
Biggest shrimp I have ever seen. Ordered the coconut shrimp. Delicious. Side - ordered Red potatoes-you get 2 large hot ones. Will be back.
Amazing food and service.
Greatly enjoyed lunch at this location! Small in size but huge in personality, service and flavor. I had the fried shrimp. Serving size is ample. Sides are excellent, especially the corn on the cob. Hush puppies are awesome (although I personally prefer onions in my hush puppies). The server was not overbearing, but still available and friendly. Decor was eclectic and definitely had a seaside ambiance. Definitely will be back!
First time eating there today-WONDERFUL! Highly recommend!! Incredible tasting seafood-wide variety of entrees and to top it off-superb customer service!! Definitely will be repeat customer!!
Get the fried shrimp. Bring your own wine bottle.
A friend of mine and confirmed foodie, invited my mom and I here. Although I liked my meal, I was more captivated by the decor.
Food was awesome. A little pricey but large portion. Very long wait.
Great! Moved from Florida and nice to have a great seafood restaurant here. Small but well worth the wait. Excellent service and large portions. We will be regulars.
I decided to try this restaurant again, at the request of friends. Because we were first in line this time, we were the first to be seated. I ordered the fried seafood platter so that I could take some home. The portion was generous and the food was delicious. Our server was friendly and pretty attentive, but I did have to ask for lemon twice. They got really busy quickly. I've learned that if you want to get a seat here you either have to wait in line at the door prior to opening or be prepared to wait a long time once they open. My previous review: I've heard great things about this restaurant, but just left without eating there. I walked in and stood a full five minutes, at the front of the line without being acknowledged once. At least three servers walked within inches of me, one even looking me directly in the eyes, and no one even spoke a word. I understand they were busy, but at least "Just a moment, please" would have been nice.
God I love this place. Scallop heaven. Clean and friendly folks.
This was my first visit to the Jolly Roger and I was not disappointed. It was some of the best food I have ever eaten. My friend and I both ordered crab legs. They were so fresh! My visits to Red Lobster will be very few now after finding this gem!
Love the food and atmosphere of this quaint small town established.
If my eyes had been closed I would have sworn that I was sitting in Brunswick, Georgia eating at BJ's Seafood. But since my eyes were open I realized I was in Ellijay. It was the best shrimp and crab cake that I had eaten in this area in years and years. The service was also exceptional as well. I don't understand why the restaurant isn't like half a block long but it would have definitely been okay to have waited to sit down because the food and service was worth it.
I truly wish I could give this place a rating of TEN PLUS!! Outstanding does not begin to cover it! Better than any seafood I have had anywhere in Savannah, Tybee, or Florida. Seriously, this place ROCKS!! Great service, love the atmosphere, reasonable prices, and by far the VERY BEST seafood I've ever had. No joke.
Excellent fried seafood! Staff could be a little more friendly, but other than that no issues. Will definitely return.
Love this place and the new location in Blue Ridge is awesome too!!
Fresh fish...sandwich and shrimp tasted delicious...speedy service..would go again.
Good food...expect to wait for a table...it's worth waiting.
